what are the difference in them?? beside you have to pay for one.

Paid for Antivirus and anti-spyware programs often find more threats than free programs, and have a more thorough heuristics/detection system. It depends on you personally, if you spend most of your browsing at risky sites ( porn, wares, cracksites, free screensavers sites, search assistants etc ), then you are more suited to paying the money and getting more effective protection.

On the contrary, if you are broke or you aren't too hot for the idea of spending money for AV, then there are plenty of free programs that are worthwhile, and do sufficiently protect you from more common threats. In this case ( like myself ) , you just need to be a little more careful.

I use AVG free edition, and also Zonealarm pro AV+AS .

Avast works for me. Popular Mechanics rated it as one of the best. They tested it against others (free and buy), and it performed very well. Article was last year sometime. Try it, it's free.

i recommend having two antiviruses and two antispyware programs on your PC. That picks up more viruses and spyware, and shouldnt guzzle up alot of memory.
