For a PHP/SQL based forum you need three things: Webserver: www.apache.org PHP scripting engine: www.php.net Database: www.mysql.net You can also get packages that are easy to install and include everything you need (Xammp, eYe) SMF (www.simplemachines.org) is better than phpBB, imo.
