Audio Problem - Backround Noise

Hi, I just recently got my computer that I built myself up and running and as of now, I keep hearing backround noise in my headphone and it's not the headphones problem, I tried it with 2 different ones. It would make more noise when I move the mouse around or click on something.

So far it has been excruciatingly annoying even for a small problem like this so does anyone think they may know the problem?

specs? soundcard? integrated sound?

My guess is that you're using integrated sound, and that's a problem you're going to have to deal with unless you want to fork out some cash for a real soundcard.

It is in onboard sound but do Compaq computers come with onboard sound or do they pack a sound card with it?

Because I haven't had this problem with my Compaq before.

get rid of that 8bit sound (claiming to be 16bits) for a 16-24 bit sound card
