I just read something in Google, and people are saying that installing codec packs isn't a good idea. Should I uninstall K-Lite and CCCP and just use VLC?

PLEASE IGNORE THE ORIGINAL TITLE.

Re: MP4 Videos Crash

That is a crock. Those people are either trying to boast for VLC or they got infected by pirating Win7 which is known to be infected.

There is nothing wrong with using Codecs. It is the only way to play media files in Windows with something other than VLC as not everyone likes to use that.

I have been having problems with the current version of Storm Codec. For some reason AVG seem to get upset when I play any thing.

Currently i am using VLC, but I don't like the program.

That is why i use KLite. I hate VLC and use GOM Player instead.
I have this codec ackage installed:
|MG| Win7codecs 1.1.5 Final
|MG| Win7x64 Components 1.21 Final

In vista (and XP) used this version:
|MG| Vista Codec Package 5.2.7 Final
|MG| Vista Codec x64 Components 1.8.7 Final (not in XP, as it was 32-bit)

I also have VLC installed, just in case. ;)
Honestly KLite or the Vista codec pack is just fine. I use the KLite in Win7 with no ill effects. Even with the updated codec that Win7 now has.
