I just use the surface of wooden desk...

...Have to polish the desk with Mr Sheen though, and the underside of my optical mouse regularly to get rid of some friction.

i used to do that, but found that paper works much better, so i switched.

Ball mouse i'm guessing?

The best mouse i have ever used would be the Microsoft Intellimouse PS2 Ball Mouse. They're old and discontinued now, but they are so comfortable, and cheap I think i have two right now.

I like my Riven fabric mousepad. My friend gave it to me when it came out ages ago (1997 i believe) and I still use it.

Now a mouse mate that lights up in all different colours..... That is screaming "W@NKWARE"
