I'll have to check that out at home, difficult at work. I'm sure it's golden though.
It is a recording of him attempting to sing the National Anthem while drunk. Just him and his lisp.
Yeah. November in general has been getting worse and worse each year...2 years ago it was my dad, last year andi's dad, and this year one of my good old friends. Makes me wonderwhenif I'm ever going to have a November when someone doesn't die that I'm close to.
Anyway. [/depressing]
November 14 was my dad's birthday, November 30 was my sister's birthday (she died in '98). For me the birthday's hit me harder than the day I lost them.
And, now that we have completely depressed the thread...
While TF has changed over the years, it has also matured in a lot of ways. things are not as "wild and wooly" as they were back when. For any who have never been mods here or were not here then, let me clue you in.
Back then, only Super Mods could actually ban anyone. Moderators could report spammers and delete threads in their own areas only. there were no counter-measures to stop any spam whatsoever. This boiled down to bots signing up and posting 20-30 posts in a very few minutes, of everything to links to counterfeit tennis shoes to porn images/links. It was a constant battle to keep the forums clean.
Add to this the fact that TF was fairly young and we had several members who thought rules were mainly just guidelines and completely optional. Sometimes all a mod had time to do was fight fires coming from both inside and outside of TF.
Eventually things leveled out. Larry bought Jack out and finally installed some spam counter-measures (YAY!) and the worst of the offenders either left, were banned, or finally matured. We went through a lot of mods for a while, and even had over two dozen active at one time. Once things quited down we had the hard decision to winnow down the mod staff. Several had become completely inactive, but others were not so easy to do. It hurt to cut any or them loose and the mood was heavy in the mod area for quite a while.
Things have become more active of late so we recently added some more mods (including one of the former mods). TF is once again showing signs of growth and it is a very welcome sight to these tired eyes. Hopefully we will be adding a few more mods in the future; looking through some of the old mod nominating threads earlier brought back memories and showed where several that were discussed this time around had been discussed before.
