I use MSE for a reason... to cover my backside. While I am able to manually root out most anything i still use an AV to keep me from having to do so.

How many times has MSE caught something for me? Too many for me to not use an AV. Sure, i could only stay in the "safe" parts of the net and all that crap, but I am me and I don't take well to anyone telling me what I can or cannot do... especially a bunch of panty-wastes hiding behind malware.

As for running without an AV: that's basically like banging every hooker in Africa without a raincoat. Yes, you can format and reinstall if you get hit but I am not one to waste hours and hours reinstalling my stuff and getting it all set back up the way I want it; I prefer to keep things as-is until I choose to reinstall.
