theres already i think three companies that make those hybrid drives. Samsung and lg make some here is a link to samsung

Blu-ray.com - Blu-ray News - Dual Format Player Coming from Samsung

those players sound promising except it also reads hd-dvd lol, but they have had format problems in the past like not getting sound from one format or being unable to play blu-ray and vice versa but these second generation players say those issues should be fixed

this hows that blu-ray has more support so its gonna win, anyways its the "suits" who make the final decisions anyways. and of course Disney supports Blu-Ray so you kno your kids are gonna be bugging you to get the lion king on blu-ray when it comes out so you can throw away all of those classic vhs cases you have in the garage

Blu-Ray FTW

I've said it before and I'll say it again a billion times before anyone takes any notice...

The. Format. That. The. Adult. Film. Industry. Backs. Will. Win.

Fact.

I'm not saying I know which will win, but you can bet your lymph nodes it'll "coincidentally" be the one with the most porn releases...

actually pr0n is now eaning more towards Blu, and besides the only reason pr0n kinda decided VHS/Beta was because it changed the way people watched it allowing them to watch it in the comfort of their own homes without having to go to the theater to watch it. ATM it seems like downloadable content is much more favorable, since it provides even more privacy, by not even having to leave your home. So pr0n is no longer a deciding factor

They all have the same idea, only thing different seems, is that they just found a different way to store the data on a disc, smaller pits, or w/e. There should be no different in if it can do true 7.1 blah blah blah, they all hold data, and it is that data that decides that sorta thing along with the actual players. Also I havent noticed blu ray players prices droping at ALL around here while HD-DVD prices are dropping quite a bit, saw one the other day for $450 and a blue ray for $999.99 like always.... But I believe Blu-Ray is only winning for one, Sony, two MASS advertising... I never see a HD-DVD comercial, only Blu Ray, and three it has a different name and sound to it than HD-DVD, I mean come on, how many of you would buy something that seems to have only had its name changed, and nothing else about it changed?
Blu Ray = NEW, different.
HD-DVD = Old cd, with a different name.

I am sure that is how most consumers see it that know NOTHING about technology.

Old news. But yeh, Blu-Ray wins.

Hangon, why the '!?' do and did we even care who was going to win ?
