Windows reboot disk?

Hi there,

My wife dropped her phone on her laptop - apparently right on top of the hard disk, rendering it quite inoperable.

So I've bought a new hard drive, put it in the machine, but unfortunately I can't get the machine to boot.

The CD I'm using has this written on it...

Operating System
Already Installed on Your Computer
Reinstallation DVD
Windows Vista Home Premium 32BIT SP!
The software is already installed on your computer. Use this DVD only to reinstall the operating system on a Dell PC.
etc etc etc

When I try to boot, I get the message "no bootable devices".

I've pressed F12, and selected the CD boot only option. I've also tried other options that also involve trying the CD Drive. All result in the same message, "no bootable devices".

So is this CD not the right one to install Vista onto a new hard drive? Or is there another problem such as with the CD Drive. It certainly appears to be trying to read the disk...

thanks for any help!
