Win 7 upgrade disk question

I have read somewhere here thats it not possible to upgrade a 32bit system to 64bit with and upgrade disk question is.
Seeing I would have to do a clean install with Win 7 upgrade disk, if I'm upgrading from XP
Is it possible to also change 32bit system to 64bit at this same time seeing its a clean install.
From searching I haven't found any definitive answers to this question.

Since you will be doing a fresh install, yes you can install a 64 Bit OS at that time as long as you meet the hardware requirements.

Thanks Mak for the quick reply I was thinking it was possible but from all my searching I was getting confused which isn't that hard for me
People saying you couldn't because it was and upgrade disk
some saying you could because it was clean install
I'm wanting to move to 64bit and didn't want to waste money on the upgrade disk if it wasn't possible the price for the preorder upgrade is hard to pass up.

It is a upgrade disk but Microsoft stated in their FAQ of Win7 that you could use that to do a fresh, clean install.

You will see under the last option. They state that you can install, but you must first backup your stuff from XP first.
