vista home premium

Hello all, I have a dell studio laptop with vista home premium. I would like to use this laptop to begin my sql server studing. I've been told that vista home is not compatible and I should upgrade to vista ultimate. I don't want to purchase this. What are my options? I have win 2003 server, winxp pro and virtural server. Should I put either one of these on this laptop to run Sql Server 2005? Thanks
