I just got a virus and cannot be deleted by norton, I do update my NAV quite often, I just did it yesterday, i run the spyware..didn't work.

Is it better to delete by registry, will it work?

No, dont edit your registry. Viruses often infect crucial windows files. You could be deleting dependant files.

Norton should give you a name and/or a link to their website with a method of removal. If they didnt link you, type the virus name into google and it should pull up symantecs website with that info.

However, if that page (symantecs removal recommendations) says to delete certain registry keys, it should be okay.

Let us know how it goes.

Is it a w32 virii? If so the only time Symantec Utilities will delete it if its in the .../System32/ folder. If its not and its somewhere else you will need to goto the Symantec web page and find out how to adjust the registry in order to fix it. My advice is to backup your Registry and then edit. Even better advice would be to back up your data and re-format. Those W32's can be a pain in the neck.
