Default Software Tools

I think this would be a good topic for a sticky. I'm curious what type of software/hardware tools people here bring with them, or have at their disposal when working on PC's.

I know there are some network admin's here, and your list is endless i'm sure. But i'm more referring to when a friend/family member calls you up to come and look at their PC because something bizarre is happening.

What do you bring with you as far as recovery/bootable disks, bootable software, regular software?
