Default shutting down

i have windows XP pro

when i shut down my pc, it goes to the blue screen and says windows is shutting down, the mouse freezes, and then nothing, i have to shut it down maually. does anyone have any idea, someone told me there was a fix for this but i thought i would ask your advice

none of these things have solved the problem
