Default Serious mouse lag on counter-strike

On my laptop(which has a touchpad), i play counter-strike and i recently got a new logitech g5 mouse, and it lags like hel. it will freeze and then maybe go forward uncontrollably and shoot for a few seconds even though im not touching it. why is this and how do i fix it?

Have you tried downloading the SetPoint drivers?

(That is the same for all G5s)

do you have a good surface for hte mouse?
sometimes my razer mouse will hit a mark on the desk, or where 2 wood pieces come together and it skips around.
