Need software to view incoming packets/personal information to my network, any ideas?

I'm not very network savy. I'm more into programming & computer troubleshooting but I do have my SSID and my passcode for the wireless network and other information. I heard wireshark was good packet analyzer; however, I am not familiar how to use it and I am wondering if I could use this software to view personal information and other information that is incoming and outgoing to my network devices. If not, what can I use?

WireShark would be what you want. There's a steep learning curve to it though...so I'd read up on some guides / tutorials on how to use it.
