Help with Outlook

I have Outlook installed on my PC. But I usually just use Hotmail for my e-mail. Occasionally when I click an e-mail link, Outlook will open which is fine; but when I open out look now I do not receive current e-mails. Only in Hotmail. Secondly when I first opened up Outlook a few weeks ago it stored all of my old e-mails. I deleted them and I still do not get current e-mails from Outlook. How can I set it up so I receive e-mails via Outlook?

Tried deleting the account from Outlook and re-adding it?

I tried. No luck. What about the incoming and outgoing servers pop3.live.com smtp.live.com and the port numbers?

Set it up as an Exchange account instead of as a POP3 account:
Configure Outlook with an Outlook.com (Hotmail), Gmail, Yahoo, AOL or iCloud account - HowTo-Outlook

Will be much better, and all activity reflected on the Outlook client (such as deletes/read mail) will reflect back on the web-view.

Set up with IMAP to sync between them, Outlook should DL and install a hotmail connector for this which allows you to also sync your contacts, calender etc

Setting up as an Exchange/ActiveSync account will do that as well, and doesn't require anything extra .
