I'm trying to help as much as I can.....

C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe Do you have that file?

That file belongs to event viewer

Enables event log messages issued by Windows-based programs and components to be viewed in Event Viewer. This service cannot be stopped.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MT3PE8UN

there is the file from my machine

put it in the directory above and let me know what happens

reboot

Default cant overwrite!

I am unable to overwrite the file as it says that the file is currently in use.

When i go to services.exe via task manager i get that i cant close the task since its critical for the system.

did you try to just goto start/run and type in eventvwr (note, its EVENTVWR and NOT eventviewer).

i tried it and it does open the event viewer, but when i go to say system or application i get that the interface is unknown and cant go any further, i beleive this is due to the absence of eventlog service.
