Freezes on blinking cursor when booting up. Weird.

Hey all. I have a strange problem I cant diagnose. I try to boot up my XP Pro machine and it goes thru a few of the boot up screens then right before the Windows XP welcome screen, it hangs on a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left of the screen.

Upon looking at the bios, it sees both my master and slave IDE drives. Ive replaced the cables, ive checked the power, and nothing. I put the master drive in another machine and it booted up fine right away into XP. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you drive is having issues on loading some drivers in your machine. Either that or something else upon the boot is slowing it down massively.

Boot into Safe Mode. Start>Run>msconfig>startup tab. Remove all but your AV and firewall. Then one by one put the rest back on till you figure out which one is causing the issue.
