Default underline in word

I have tried everything I can think off to stop underline being default in Word. I cant seem to be able to revert back to normal type without underline unless I cancel the icon in the bar every time I write. Any answers please, its driving me nuts.

What version of Word? 2003 or 2007?

Well i dont even see the option to enable Underline. So it might be a Macro or something you have going.

I looked through the Office site as well and they dont offer anything useful either. Might want to check that you dont have a Macro on for this.

No macro running. Have tried more but still doesn't want to run without underline at start up. It seemed to start after last automatic update form Microsoft.

I just installed Office about a hour before you posted this and have all updates and this behavior is not present for me. So it isnt the updates as i have them all.

I went onto a microsoft website forum and somebody told me how to correst the default settings, thanks for your help anyway.
