cdwriter won't display in windows xp

I recently installed a cdwriter in a system it was working fine, suddenly it, the computer won't detect the cdwriter, I don't know why, the last option I have is to reload windows and I don't want to do that, unless its absolutely necessary.

Does anyone have an alternative solution.

could you try to uninstall the cdwriter software ? Try to reinstall the software after restarting the computer . if this does not work, try to change the Data Bus port . try to restore the system to the day when it was working fine .!! try these solutions , i hope it might solve your problem !!
