Can't play any movie files

I just recently reformatted my HDD and reinstalled Vista on it and installed all of the updates Windows would give me. For some reason, I can't play any video files, no matter what type, on any video player. I've tried VLC, WMP, and Quicktime. I can hear the audio on VLC and WMP but I can't see anything. Any ideas what is going on? I appreciate the help

Get either the KLite Codec pack or the Vista Codec pack. Will solve you problem.

Not a problem. Codecs are the first thing to check for when videos wont play. Common thing to recommend.

yep and when you choose the "lot of stuff" option in klite. that basically takes care on everything

That's what I do on every computer I use/work on that has a video problem; the full K-Lite. Never know what might want to be played.
