I tried running the windows scan disk program the other day....and the scan took 12 hours to complete, and then it was done, the computer would not load windows. It comes up with a screen that says "Windows Error Recovery" with the options to launch startup repair, or start windows normally. Neither of which do anything at all. I cant start in safe mode, or any other mode.

The laptop was purchased as Office Depot and comes with a series of disks called "Recovery Disk" 1 of 5, 2 of 5, etc.. I have inserted the first recovery disk and tried loading with that....again it didn't do anything. I even tried changing the boot load order from Hard drive first to CD drive first. Nothing. I am out of ideas now. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do? I am really unhappy because there are many pictures, and some other files that I need on that.

Hi Chimera.

Have you tried loading the boot menu when you get the first screen and then launching from CD?
I know with my Toshiba, it was the only way it would load the disk.
