Well it sounds more like a problem with the AC adapter connecting with the laptop battery than a heating problem. Do you hear the fans blowing louder than usual? And usually if its a heating problem, it will run fine on idle, but will start to overheat when you start using programs. But you say that it shuts down right when it loads to the desktop. Could be a soldering issue with the connection to the CPU and charging board.
