Exclamation Gateway (400VTX) Won't Power On after Battery Discharged

I just got a new battery for my Gateway 400VTX, put it in, let it charge for a couple days, then went mobile with it for the day. I ran it down to about 30% before closing the lid and putting it to sleep. A couple hours later, I plug it in and try to start it up, but it won't power on. Nothing happens. Even the 'battery charging' light doesn't come on, and it apparently shut itself off from sleep mode or went into hibernation, because the standby light isn't on either. The light on the power brick is on, so I know it's getting power, but I can't get it to do anything. Any help?

EDIT: it seems the power supply connector has a bad connection inside the computer, probably broken loose.

Hello,

If you remove the battery and plug the power adapter to your laptop, does it turn on then?
