i have a Toshiba satellite with win 7 32-bit and this message has been popping up on my power meter "consider replacing battery". now i will definitely be getting a new battery just in case but, i want to know if there's a way that i can see how much charge my laptop battery is holding? I'm curious because i have read that this is sometimes a false message, and i don't update windows regularly i feel they just use up hdd space.

I think about the only way you can be sure, is with a multimeter or something.

Have fun getting hacked. You need to run updates, to patch security holes in Windows. It takes up less than 1MB apiece, most of them.

That message is from your manufacturer. Dell, HP, etc have software utilities that pop up that message when battery is out of prime.

Doesn't mean it's going to explode, just means it's past it's prime.

Just test it yourself, if you feel that the length of time your PC runs off the current battery isn't adequate, buy a new battery. There is no defined set of time that a battery lasts. There is an average, but that's dependent on usage.
