For the Sims 1 his processing unit will be able to handle it, but if he is going for Sims 2 it may be a touch slow.


Also keeping in-mind he only wants to spend around $100.

Oh well my brother bought the 9600xt that came with the free halflife 2 and that was about $150.

You could go for a top-model and get a 9600, but if you are looking at playing games like the Sims you don't need a high/expensive graphics card.


Also if he does get that card his processer wont be able to handle the gfx-card.

If you are looking for just playing games like the Sims then go for a cheaper graphics card like Geforce 4 MX (The reason I keep mentioning Geforce 4 MX is because I used to have one and still do and they play most games on the market now - apart from the very recent games like DOOM 3 & Half-life2), but if you are looking at playing the top of the range games then go for a higher expensive card which will lead you upgrading more parts of your PC (Processer)
