that a Hard drive while running, would survive a 6 foot fall...

yeah that is what i thought too...i will, but it probley ended with the needle scratching the disk....

Yeah, it's called head crash, and it mashes the disk completely. When the drive is running the head is not over a safe spot, it just floats above a random part of the disk, so it's bound to cause damage.

thers a thing that apple uses on their powerbooks that senses when the hard drive is in freefall or vertical or something and it locks the head or something. pretty cool but yea ur hard drive is probably damaged

Yeah i heard about that...it like shuts it down in .02 seconds which is fast...mine prob would have survived! argh!

Wish they would make all hard drives like that and make it to where you can enable that option or disable it.....
