Default Overheating?

My computer does not boot up but everything is powered on, after trying to restart it again and again(pressing holding the power button)
it boots up once every 5-8 times . When computer is powered on everything runs perfect. Could it be that the cpu is overheated or some other problem?

Maybe, have you done anything with it latley?

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16ghz
x1600 128MB
Windows XP/Mac OSX 10.5

No longer a Guru of games...
