DVD Burner

Hey everyone,
i am planning to buy a dvd burner, but due to so many options out there i cant make up my mind. I am concidering to buy either TDK, SONY or PLEXTOR. Can you people help me out here?? I am thinking of choosing either one of them. My main requirement for teh burner is that it must be 8x. Which one will you people recommend? If you people know any other brand that is even better than these ones do let me know.

I have a DELL Dimension 4550 with 2.66 Ghz at 533Mhz bus, 784 MB RAM

Like my Sony but the gimpy Nero that comes with it could do with out it.

I have a Memorex True 8x burner and like it alot. It comes with Nero Express and I was wondering how to turn off the automatic disc speed detection so I can burn at 8x. I love this drive and if you know how I would appreciate the help.
