Yeah dude, you should be able to easily overclock that 3400+ up to a 3800+ no problem, which should run all of your applications at fairly tolerable speeds.

Intel C2D E6320 / AMD Athlon X2 3800+
Gigabyte 965P DS3 / DFI nF4 Ultra-D
2GB OCZ Gold PC2-6400 / 2GB OCZ Gold PC4000
eVGA 8800GTS 320MB / eVGA 6800GS 256MB
150GB Raptor / 74GB Raptor
2x500GB / 320GB
OCZ GameXStreme 850w / OCZ StealthXStream 600w

Thanks for the replys. So far, this is what I have actually narrowed down to...btw, I am going to get a PCI Express Radeon X800 Pro:

I am leaning towards this motherboard:

And for the CPU, I'm thinking of the P4 3.4 LGA775:

Now, I am having problems finding a good RAM... Like I said, I want to get One Gig just to start off...and with that board, I'm thinking DDR2 RAM.

Any suggestions? And what do you guys think of that configuration so far? Oh, and the garphic card is here:

I think the problem is the fact that the 3400+ is a socket 754 CPU; they have a 1.6GHZ FSB and don't supoport dual channel, whereas the socket 939's have a 2GHZ FSB, and support dual channel. they also have the Winchester cores in 3000+, 3200+ and some 3500+'s

the winchesters have a 90nm core, use less voltage, run cooler and overclock much better than the Newcastles or Clawhammers

the Pentium 4's do seem to do better in multimedia apps that require more mathematical processing. this is mainly because they have more L2 cache.

if you're going Pentium 4, go for an LGA775
although personally I would say the socket 939 winchesters are the way to go at the moment
