I'm considering a sound card for my new computer, but realizing that all these new boards come with what looks like good built in audio, with optical outputs and all. I'm big on audio and have a good Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 surround system with optical in, a port which I haven't been able to make use of yet since I've never had a computer system with optical out on it. My question, is it worth buying an additional sound card these days - is there even a noticeable improvement?
