Hey,

I have a (defunct) desktop PC which is at the moment running XP professional.

I just recently got a laptop which runs XP media center.

Now, I have been having no end of trouble trying to get these two little buggers to talk to one another. They're networked together fine... and SOMETIMES they communicate (I managed to pull a whole bunch of files off my old desktop to the laptop) but for the most part it complains about limited or no connectivity and neither of the two can see eachother in the network places window.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to end this hassle then that'd be great, thanks!

Also, my laptop came with one of those irritating "hidden" partitions that contains the windows files and other things. Not really what I need considering it's all of 12 gigs! Is there any way I can shift those files over to my old PC or even burn the windows installer files to a DVD? I want to try to keep XP media edition, but worst comes to the worst, I'll have to remove it.

Thanks for your patience,

Tom
