Hi I have had this issue with 2 ati graphics cards now my old x800 pro and now my x1650pro, I have searched around and found that a lot of people have similar problems but none of the fixes seem to help.
The problem is that sometime if I power my pc down for any length of time when I reboot smartgart has agp set to 0 and agp write and agp read are switched off, now sometimes I can just reset these and reboot and it will be fine and others samrtgart is greyed out and the only way to sort the issue is to reinstall the cards drivers.
I have Fast Write disabled in bios and smartgart
I have downloaded and installed the latest via chipset drivers
i have switched off VPU recovery in smartgart
I have installed every catalyst driver update going over the last 4 years
I recently flashed my bios as I was upgradeing to dual core and hoped that this might also solve this problem, it didn't,
I have lost count of the number of times I have formatted and reinstalled windows over the years
I am at a loss as to what to do tbh
Any suggestions would be great
