The tech is wrong, sadly mistakenly wrong. Yes a gtx260 will work.

Thanks for the response, Peter. I called Asus and talked to someone different. He said it is common for them to give people wrong answers. He said that some of the techs will say no because they can't guarantee compatibility. I call that poor customer service/tech support. I reinstalled the drivers for my GPU and it is better even with the old card. I guess it was a graphical error of some sort. Thanks for the help everyone.
