Default Nothing

i re-installed windows and i download a program that asked me to restart i restarted and got a grey bar cut into sections, so i restarted now i have a plain black screen. what should i do?

does your motherboard post and give you a list of hardware devices inside your computer? or do you have an HP or something that just shows the HP logo or the Dell logo instead? if so, i'd take it to them and they can fix it.

If it were my machine, and the motherboard displayed all of my devices like normal, than i would just reformat. hook up my second hard disk set to master, install win2k on it, set the bad HD to slave, link it to my smaller HD i just formatted, copy my data off the bad disk, reformat the bad disk, copy my files back on it, and set it back to master on its own IDE cable. i've done it so many times to my computer, I feel like i can do it in my sleep.
