Default boot up help

have an A7V333 Motherboard. Every time I power up, the PC goes through the POST routine and gets to the Windows 'your PC didn't star properly etc...' screen. No matter what type of start up you select, Normal, safe etc, the routine shuts the PC down and ends up back at the ASUS splash screen. this goes on and on ..... Any suggestions?

has the pc been overclocked or have you removed/added any new hardware? if the answer is no then normally its either a corrupted windows installation or bad memory.

Tried it with another hard drive that has windows on it - same reult. Tried different memory, still the same. Do you think it's the motherboard?

if the hdd was from another computer with win xp pre-installed its no surprise you got a blue screen again. that will pretty much always happen with xp pre-installed on a hdd from another computer unless the pc is identical

I don't get a blue screen, just the 'Windows did not start properly last time' window. When you choose any of the options, the Windows XP Home edition screen shows for a second, then fades, then the PC reboots. This is a constant cycle, the same even when the drives are changed. I've also changed the memory and the same happens.
