Trying to build

for the record my current build is:

AMD Athlon 3000+
2x512mb Kingston pc2700
Radeon 9550
Creative SB Live! 5.1
160gb hard drive

it was an emachines that i just put stuff into, so im sure you can see why i would want to upgrade, i just am debating if it is worth it or not for the future so again any help is appreciated.
