Default New pc from the floor up

hey peoples its been a bit.

So you might ask your self why would i want or need a new pc (my current is in my sig), well truth be told i am unhappy with both my ps3 and pc, this pc was the first pc i had where i got to pick what goes into it but at the time i was thinking great in the following 2-3 weeks aster the prices of the 1TB drives fell to less then the 2 500gb.

on top of that bits have broke off my mobo and the case is just well not so good

so after that i am here asking for advice on a system, i have not been keeping up with the new i7's or the new gpu's ect so its going to be from the floor up.

but the only things i have set my heart on is either sli, croffire and for it to be good enough not to want a upgrade for a good 4-6 years to come.

The best thing you could tell us is what your budget is.

That's a good budget for what you need to get; you already have a (great) power supply, and hard drives - and presumably optical drive(s). So that's at least a couple hundred quid you can spend on other stuff. Same goes for the OS, since you already have Windows 7.

A quick note of what stuff will cost:
£200 for an i7 930 - the best CPU available at the minute
£100+ for 3x2GB of DDR3
£200+ for a decent motherboard with good overclocking abilities
~£50 for a good air cooler

Which leaves about half the budget left for the GPU(s) and case.
What sort of case are you after? Just a decent one which will do everything decently, or are you after something fancy (£100+)?

The best GPU you can get at the minute is the HD5970; they cost just under £500:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/N2GB-...-DVI-I-Mini-DP
The HD5970 is basically two HD5870 cards in one card. It's better to get the one card, since it will produce less heat than two cards and use a bit less energy, than getting two HD5870s in Crossfire.

Oh right, so you'll still be needing PSU, case, hard drives, etc. then.

I'm just throwing a build together for you on Scan atm

Again I ask, what sort of case are you after? Here are a couple of the more expensive options:
- http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Corsa...m-fans-w-o-PSU
I can suggest a couple of cheaper options, if you like.

Anyway, here's the first 'draft' so to speak. There's about £200 left in the budget if you want to get an SSD too - I would highly recommend one, more than anything else actually. And there's room for a decent CPU cooler too if you plan on overclocking - which is a great idea, it's like extra speed for free. That PSU will allow you to add another HD5970 at some point if you so want
CPU http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Intel...io-130W-Retail
Mobo http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Gigab...-SATA-RAID-ATX
RAM http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/plus-...-9-9-9-24-165V
GPU http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/N2GB-...-DVI-I-Mini-DP
PSU http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/850W-...-Year-Warranty
HDD http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ss1TB...-89-ms-NCQ-OEM
Case http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Corsa...m-fans-w-o-PSU
I picked that case since it's my favourite of the options, I just put it in there so I could figure out the budget better.

Hope this helps. Any questions, etc.?

I might plan on a small OC like on my Q6600 (from 2.4 to 2.8 / 3.0 ish) as for the case i am keen on the coolermaster cosmos s but i am open for suggestions.

The Obsidian seems a nice case, i have heard a few good things about it, for SSD's would love a small one to put the OS on should speed things up no end

This is a great SSD for the price, if you want to get one (and you really should).
Scan.co.uk: OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G - 60GB OCZ Technology Vertex 2E, 2.5" Sandforce SSD, MLC-Flash, Read 285MB/s, Write 275MB/s
