Pentium G4600($87 USD) and Pentium G4620 ($98 USD)

both are reported to have hyper-threading---

which could I get more performance out of?

or take me to school PP- which budget cpu gives us the best bang for the holiday buck!

The overclockable i3s are going to be heavily priced and from what I've seen so far a ****'s hair away from obtaining an i5 which would be better in the end. Those i3s only get close to i5 performance by a good amount of overclocking (like we did in the 1st gen Core i days).

The Pentiums are rumored to have a memory max compared to the i3s but I can't confirm this due to NDA.

IMO the cheap i3 is the better way to go but it all depends on the actual budget. Also something to consider is that Kaby chips aren't supposed to hit until next month after CES. The i5 and i7 K chips usually come out first while the rest trickle out. So I wouldn't expect the Pentium chips until Feb at the earliest.

good point on the i3 wanting to be a corolla(i5) when it grows up--

Since I am waiting either way- what about Ryzen? I know the demo was a 6900K with the Broadwell architecture and Intel has moved onto Skylake and that could make things very different in the dual and quad core chips-

any thoughts on SenseMi?
