Default Need help on crossfire mobo

I was looking through the recomended parts for high end computers and I seem to be running into a lot of broken links or parts listed in new egg without the ability to add them to the cart. Also on new egg it's not totally clear which boards are crossfire and which are not.

At the very least the links in the recomended thread send me to mobo's that are not clearly marked as crossfire.

So in any case I was looking for a good reasonably fast mobo for a intel quad core and a radeon 4870 setup, whith furture plans to possibly go crossfire in the future.

Also if anyone knows of a good non crossfire/SLI board I was thinking about this as well. I have all the other parts nailed down just can't figure out the mobo.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies

I've got an Asus P5Q Deluxe and love it. I just recently bought a second 4870 for crossfire and it works flawlessly. Incomming tons of biostar recommendations though >.>

Yea P5Q Pro, Deluxe, or P5Q-E are all good Crossfire boards. The Biostar I45 is a excellent board too. Stick with a P45 chipset they're best for overclocking, cheaper, and use less power. Or if you you want the full x16 bandwith out of those 4870s you could consider a x38/x48 board as well like this one:

The Biostar I45 is a good crossfire motherboard. It holds the world record for the highest fsb and is a great overclocker.

i'd recommend

Newegg.com - ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

or

Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS4 LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards (i'd actually recommend the DS3R, but the Egg hasn't got it in stock atm)

the x48 will give you slighty better CrossFireX performance, as it supports 2x PCIe x16 ports, instead of the ports which run at 8x in CrossFireX mode that the P45 chipset supports
