Depends on if he wants to run with all the eye candy and at that high of a resolution. Some people are just fine with Med settings at 1024*768.

You think about running unreal tournament 2007 on a single card with resolution of 1600 x 1200 with highest settings its just not going to work. You getting a dual core processor? you want to even if its just the x2 4200+ because games in the near future will be using this too.

that is crazy. why would you need 1600x1200. i wouldn't reccomend the 4200+ either. i reccomend either the x2 3800+ or the opteron 165.

Yeah but i was just saying 1600 x 1200 to give u an idea of why it is needed. If u dont want to upgrade again for another 3 years then get an SLi board or crossfire is what i meant.
And how can a x2 3800 be better than the x2 4200 which can be overclocked to the same as the x2 4400.

ok im going to get the: ASUS A8V-E SE can you recomend any cheap 1GB RAM (2x512) for it????

my 3800+ is at 2.5ghz which p-rating wise is equal to the 4800+ toledo. i think in some respects it will outperform the 4800+. i've managed this with the stock cooler. that is the reason why i suggested the 3800+. i think there may be a chance that SLI will be abandoned unless there is vast improvement in the dual card sli configs. supposedly the new 4 card setups have shown significant performance boosts but that is just costly and impractical. if they can translate this performance to the 2 card config then it may continue.

Ok for a start the UL8 is an AGP board so i wouldnt recommend that.

Gigabyte GA-K8NS is also AGP.

Asus A8V-E SE this board is quite good and seems to be the kind of thing you want.

The Asus A8V isnt quite as good.

I'd say go for the Asus A8V-E SE.
