We cant advise you very well until you tell us what the pc will be used for? gaming? or just for surfing the net and doing work etc?

Default hmm

if you're into casual pc gaming and net surfing, buying a pc is extremely adequate and cheap

I built my 1st 2 pcs...and of course my 5th. My 3rd and 4th I was annoyed with how cheesy the pc industry was (hated all the over heating oc frenzy that went on and still does! )

IF casual gaming you should just pop $300-400 on a branded PC. BASED off my few years old rig I got for the same, yours should be almost twice as fast for the same price, or 3x so if you want to spend $800.

dxdiag of old/current system (until all my new parts arrive)

Time of this report: 8/3/2006, 09:56:42
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600)
System Manufacturer: HP Pavilion 04
System Model: P8635A-ABA 752w
BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.26GHz
Memory: 1024MB RAM
Page File: 378MB used, 934MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

vid card: Nvidia GForce4 TI 4200 agp 128mb

Now I posted that because I just finished playing the Demo of Titan Quest. A little choppy but not too bad man!

anique, do you also need a monitor?
since you didn't say i'll assume no...

total: $826.95 - $80 mail in rebates = $746.95 + shipping and possibly taxes depending on where you live..
