Default Free Computer - Free problems

Hey guys!

So I was given a gaming rig from my boss who owns a tech support business here.
Long story short - After not powering the computer for about a week Im having a problem booting and getting to POST.

Specs:
Mobo - Intel DP67BG (No further info)
GPU - Asus Geforce 980 TI
CPU - i5 3570k 4.0ghz
RAM - 2x4gb DDR3 Corsair Vengeance LP

Was working flawlessly until I left it alone for a week.
Now my mobo is showing "64" and giving me the 2, 1 second beeps

I checked mobo specs but theres nothing for that "64" error code. I dont know what it means.

reslotted the ram in each slot 1 by 1, but still no boot. Moved my GPU to the other PCI slot, no boot, same beeps. Unhooked HDD, USBs, everything but CPU, GPU, Mobo power - still 2 beeps and code 64.

google didnt help.

I bought a spare cmos battery to check that (as a mechanic, we are taught to change the cheapest part first).

If the new cmos battery doesn't do it, Im going to assume its the motherboard (reason why I got the computer for free was because my boss couldnt figure out what was wrong)

GPU worked perfectly. CPU ram good. I have 2 sets of different ram I tried - same problem.

THE REAL REASON WHY IM POSTING:

The computer has an i5 3570k. I dont oc, or plan on doing it (gaming was fine without it).
Whats the cheapest replacement LGA 1155 mobo I can get that will run my system?

Dont need the bells, whistles, and OC ability. Just need the parts to run, and game.

Im not an expert in this, nor do I know my sh!t, but I know a lil bit.

Will this ebay find suffice for me needs?

Thank you SO much in advance!

Yep eBay is probably your best bet, but that mobo you picked won't work. It was designed for sandy bridge and never got a bios update to support the ivy bridge :/ ivy is backwards compatible with sandy bridge mobos, but does need the mobo manufacturer to issue an update to support the new chips.

Have you checked the power supply for this pc yet?
Brand name and wattage will help to know

Be aware that some of those Dell mobo's use proprietary heatsinks and fans. They only fit on the Dell boards and the fans are not normal connectors to the board (check the skinny 4 pin connector next to the memory slot) you'll need a Dell fan too. You will get a bios error when you boot up if you do not use a specific Dell fan. And there is no IO shield with that board
Do not get an "off the shelf" (Dell, HP or any others) brand motherboard. Get a non- shelf brand, Like Asus, Gigabyte, ASRock....ect.

Edit: although this one costs a little more, you get USB 3.0. an IO shield a heatsink and fan with some extra cables too.

According to the Asus web page, your cpu should work without any issues.

A "Z" series board might be a better gaming board but you have not stated a budget on a replacement board

Thanks for the reply guys.

Psu is an EVGA 500w. Would that cause these sudden issues?

I’ll check those boards now.
Thanks again!

Thanks for the links!

Yea, the computer was free and I don’t game enough to justify throwing down $100 for a mobo.

The one you linked would be my top budget, $40-50

The problem with old stuff like that is sometimes it's cheaper to upgrade than it is to replace old dying parts. Most Z68 boards and the like will be over what your budget calls for and I doubt your PSU is of issue.

Intel fault codes
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us...-and-kits.html
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us...html#beepcodes
Try removing one of memory sticks and booting up the pc. Try this with one different stick and in each slot to see if you still get any errors
If possible, try using a known working memory stick in each slot too

Hey Joe. Thanks for your suggestion but Iíve tried that with each stick I have (4x 4gb and 2x 8gb)

Same issue all around.

According to Intel, that two beep code could also indicate a failed graphics card too. So see if you can get a cheap video card to test this out, You can return the card if that does not help or if it does, return the card for a better gpu. If all that fails.... time for an upgrade. Those new Ryzen chips are due out on 7/7 (excuse me if I drool a little bit)
