Question which is faster ?

the 10,000 RPM raptor with the old SATA 1.5 Gb/s

or the new SATA 3 Gb/s @ 7200 RPM

i'm going to be running 2 hard drives in raid 0

Two Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB drives in RAID0 would be infinitely more preferable than two raptors.

or samsung spinpoints - theyre awesome hard drives. the problem with 10K drivees are the lack of space - you have to be certain that you have a way of storing your media somewhere else, since a full HDD wont be very fast, even in a RAID array.

Not to mention that the raptors are going on 3 years old now, and there have been lots of advances when it comes to 7200 rpm drives. Most 7200 rpm drives are within 10% of the performance of a raptor with tons more space and no where near the price.

They're good, i know ive got one, but they are last generation compared to the 7200.11 drives. the Spinpoint F1 drives are the current generation samsung drives.

If you want the fastest the 2 x 750gb Samsung Spinpoint F1 drives in RAID 0 would be crazy fast.
