Core 2 Duos (including the E2180) are fater than Athlon x2's clock for clock so a lower clocked Core 2 can equal a higher clocked Athlon. With both cpu's at stock the AMD will be faster but the E2180 is capable of overclocking higher and runs cooler.

I never noticed my E2180 holding me back gaming at 2ghz but I have had it overclocked to 2.8ghz for quite a while now. The E2180 is so easy to overclock there really isn't a reason not to.

I have this heatsink and it does a good job of cooling my overclocked E2180. it also comes with good thermal paste so you don't need to buy any.

Would you recommend getting the 1200 or 1066 DDR2 memory for this mobo:BIOSTAR TForce TP45HP LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard?

There is no reason to get ram that fast. DDR2 800 with good timings would be fine.

wow, 4GBs of DDR2 1200 memory sure is brutally expensive!

Yeah, but this Mobo only supports 1066 memory, I think? Can you confirm?

That's the maximum memory speed supported. DDR2 800 will work fine.

Does the aftermarket heatsink replace the stock cpu heatsink?
