Hey, I just decided to build my own PC using a price range of $1000-$1600. I would like to see a list of components that I should use for building a High Performance gaming PC. I plan on DLing Windows 7 RC for the OS on my new PC as well. Let me know if you guys have any good setups in mind. Thanks again

PS. if there is a site with a tutorial for the actual building of it that would be great to get a link of. i found one but i would like some second opinions as well

Thanks!

i think newegg.com have something like a build setup where you go through and chose the parts for your computer. but this is what i recommend.

cpu: i7 920 $280
cpu cooler: core contact $50 with i7 bracket
mobo: biostar tpower x58 $250
gpu: gtx 285 $330 evga or xfx
ram: ocz platium ddr3 1600 $95
psu: corsair 650tx $95
hdd: 640gb wd black $75
disk drive: $30
case: your choice

thats $1205 before shipping and case.

That comes to $1600 :D

I usually buy my heatsinks elsewhere as NewEgg doesn't carry my brand. But that Xigmatek "Thor's Hammer" does look like it has Great Potential.

ATX form factor is what all modern motherboards use, for smaller version of the motherboard like the asus rampage GENE they have a modified version m-ATX or micro ATX which will fit in all ATX cases aswell.

I wouldn't worry about going for sli like slaymate suggested, a single gtx 285 will max out most game right now, thats all you need. unless your playing at 1900x1200 or better.

This would be a solid system

the cooler is just as good really, maybe 1-2 degrees difference and is a lot cheaper, thats a little over 1200 with rebates, you can chuck in another gtx 285 and a 850tx with rebates and itll be 1640, with 80 or so in rebates.

this guide slay rec. is great for starters
