Default Best computer for $2k!

Hello everyone!
Okay guys, I think I'll be straightforward and say this, I need you guys (and/or girls) to help me.
I'm buying a new computer and the top of my budget is two-thousand dollars.
It needs to be fast, big and suitable for quite hardcore gaming.
So what sorta processor, memory size, RAM etc. Should I get?
I live in Victoria in Australia by the way, the computer will be assembled according to the parts I want so what do you tech-wizards think?
Thanks a bunch -Ruffy.

Give us a link to the website you want to order from
E6800 or 6400
2GB DDR2 800 or Higher, Patirot or OCZ
Nvidia 7950 GS OR sliED
Creative X-fi
2 Plextors or Optorite DVD RWs
PC Power and Cooling 850 Watt
2 Or more Seagte 320 GB SATA2 16 MB Cache in RAID 0, 1, 5
(If RAID 5, need 3 drives, best of both worlds.)
Some large case with lots of Fans ( Probably Silverstone or a Li Lian)
Some after market heatsink and Some AS5 (Probably XP-90 or Big typhoon)
Creative 7.1 Speakers or something...
The Gigabyte motherboard. That im hearing so many good reviews about. "The general" Knows the specific model."
Mouse - ?
Keyboard - ?
Moniter ? (But probably a 19in or bigger widescreen, viewsonic)

Prehaps this is wishful thinking but last time I checked you can go places with 2K.
Sorry no links, just done of the top of my head so forgive me for wrong models and or names.
Plus I don't know the conversion into USD, unless thats already in usd. Lol. So i could be way off on teh parts depending..

yeah it depends on what $2000 your talking about lol.

for $2000 USD i'd go with something along the lines of...

cpu - e6600
mobo - evga 680i sli
ram - 2x1gb dominator series Corsiar xms2
gpu - 8800gts
psu - anything 600w+ would do
sound - creative x-fi xtreme music
hdd - 2x320gb sata2 western digitals or something

and all of this is of course if your just looking for the computer and not a full system.

I'll make things a little clearer, but thanks so far guys.
I'm getting the monitor (17" LCD), mouse (er...Red laser?) and keyboard as part of the deal.
Actually I'm not so sure on a site...I'll check on that.

CPU: e6600
Hard drive: 320gig sata2 w/ 16mb cache
Power supply: 600w ocz gamexstream
Case: Cool master cm stacker full tower
Graphics: 8800gts if you want water cooling, 8800gtx if you will stick with fans
ROM drives: couple of 30 dollard dvd burner drives
Motherboard: I dunno something that overclocks well.
sound card: audigy 2 zs would do you plenty
Ram: 2gbs of ddr2 800mhz/ XMS2 or some ocz

AMD Athlon X2 (Dual Core) 4200+
1 Gigabyte of RAM
200 Gigabyte Hard Drive
Dual Layer DVD Burner
Internal Card Reader
Geforce 7600 Video Card
$1999-$2099

OR

AMD Athlon X2 (Dual Core) 3800+
1 Gigabyte of RAM
160 Gigabyte Hard Drive
Dual Layer DVD Burner
Internal Card Reader
Geforce 7300 Video Card
@ $1699

Both of these come with keyboards, mouse and ASUS cases and may come with either an 17" Samsung LCD monitor or an 19" Widescreen ASUS monitor.

So what do you guys think? Should I go with one of them? Neither? How good of a deal is this?
Thanks for all your help guys.

Why is there no C2D Choice... For the money you want to spend go C2D.

And Everyone is suggesting it anyways.

But if those are your only two choices. Option 1.

The 4200+ is a waste of money anyway because you can just OC the 3800. Plus, with $2000, i think he can do better than a 3800.
