Visual Basic 6.0 won't work! Why?

I am sorry, I know this is the wrong forum, however, this is rather urgent, and I need all the reponses that I can get.

Anyway's, I want to install VB 6.0 on my computer, but everytime I try it, it says;

C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.



I just bought this computer about 2 month's ago, AMD Athlon 3000+ Venice, everything is very much high end, I have had no problems running any software on this computer. Can someone please help?
