Upgrading PC! need advice from Australia

I was just looking at the MSY pricelist, and I noticed you can now get a Sapphire X1950 pro for $203

How much money do you think you can spend then?

I suppose i can spend around $450 or a bit more. I want to be able to run games like cs and sims 2 n i suppose new games 'lag free'. I looking for a bit of longevity i suppose from my p.c.

I'd just upgrade to about a gig or a gig and a half of ram.

I read once on the Valve website that the minimum requirements for their games increase over time because of improved graphics, etc. So don't put too much stock into that.

I ran counter strike a little laggy on a system like yours and i added another 512 or ram (giving me a gig) and it runs great.

Is their specific type of ram i should get or just any type of ram. Have any suggestions of some names?
